Team effort
Working in conjunction with Vargo, a systems integrator headquartered in the United States, 3D Storage Solutions took on prime contractor status at the GTA location of a major clothing retailer to construct a 4 level pick module.
3D’s responsibilities included permitting and engineering to Ontario Building Codes, mechanical installation of the structure and warehouse accessories including fire protection, sprinklers, lighting & all life safety components (railings, staircases, exit signs and emergency lighting).
About the project
The structure was supplied by one of our long term partners, Speedrack Products Group out of Quincy, Michigan. With over 50,500 square feet per level, this added an additional 151,500 square feet of storage space. Speedracks unique design uses pallet racking components combined with special low profile shelf beams and mesh decks to create an extremely cost effective multi-tier pick module.
Workers access the pick module via the 15 staircases provided. Pallet drops come complete with safety gates to allow pallets of product to be dropped off at the appropriate location. Custom trash chutes were also constructed to ensure all excess cardboard was easy to dispose of.
This large module was constructed in under 12 weeks.
According to Art Eldred, Client Executive, Systems Engineering for Vargo, “We had a tight time line and 3D met all our expectations and handled all the usual project hurdles with professionalism and expertise…. both our customer and Vargo are very pleased with the results.”
